Quest Schooling & Our Approach
-
Quest Learning How to Learn by Doing is my framework for helping kids learn
how to learn through developing learning skills and apply them to hands-on, real-world 'doing.'
It blends project-based learning, storytelling, educational games, Socratic questioning, and observational learning to make learning active, joyful, and meaningful.Learn more about my teaching framework → About

Most resources focus on grades 3–8, but many are flexible enough to adapt for younger or older learners.
For example:- Escape rooms and scavenger hunts → best for ages 8+
- Project-based learning kits → easily adaptable for multiple grade levels
- Courses and coaching → designed for parents of K–12 learners
-
Both! Most of my courses and resources are designed for:
- Homeschooling parents who want support and fresh ideas.
- Teachers who want to make lessons more engaging and student-centered.
- Microschool leaders or co-op facilitators who want a ready-to-use framework.
-
All courses are self-paced so you can go
through them whenever it works for your family. Occasionally, I also run live
workshops — sign up for my newsletter to get early access → Quest for Learning NewsletterYou’ll get lifetime access to any paid course or workshop you purchase. This includes all updates, bonuses, and future improvements.
How Does Learning By Doing Work?
-
Montessori inspired me, especially the emphasis on independence, hands-on materials, and real-life skills. The difference is you don’t need a special classroom or equipment. Learning by Doing adapts those
child-centered, curiosity-driven principles into strategies that fit any home or school setting. -
Yes — Learning by Doing is solidly rooted in progressive education because it is child-centered, curiosity-driven, and
focused on independence. At the same time, it’s flexible enough to work across
a variety of educational settings — from homeschooling to microschools to
traditional classrooms that want to make learning more engaging.
-
Yes — in fact, that’s who it helps most.
Resistant learners often shut down when learning feels passive or abstract. By
adding choice, play, and small real-world challenges, kids re-engage and start
building confidence. This framework was designed to reduce battles and help
reluctant learners take ownership. -
Compassionate teaching means seeing learning through your child’s eyes. Instead of forcing a lesson, you create space for
questions, dialogue, and real-world connections. This strengthens your
relationship and your child’s confidence — so they feel safe enough to take risks, make mistakes, and grow.
Reluctant Learners
-
Yes. In fact, it’s an excellent fit. Many ND and
2e kids struggle with rigid, one-size-fits-all methods. Learning by Doing is flexible, strength-based, and allows kids to engage through choice, play, and real-world contexts. Instead of forcing them into a narrow path, the framework adapts to their interests and needs — helping them build executive function, confidence, and independence at their own pace. -
Motivation grows when kids feel ownership and choice. By weaving in hands-on challenges, small real-world projects, and
opportunities for curiosity, reluctant learners shift from avoidance to engagement. Even simple overlays — like turning a math lesson into a scavenger hunt — make a huge difference.
-
You’re not alone — many kids resist traditional schoolwork when it feels boring, repetitive, or disconnected from real life.
The Learning by Doing framework makes lessons active and meaningful, so kids
stay engaged and start to see learning as something they want to do. -
Yes. Many reluctant learners are really kids who feel discouraged or overwhelmed. This approach reduces pressure, builds confidence step by step, and helps kids focus by connecting learning to things
that matter in their world.
How to Use Print & Go Project Kits
-
All projects are digital download pdf files. They can be printed in gray scale or black and white and are ready for your student to use.
-
No, the projects are flexible and can be adapted to your student's grade and skill level. Each project includes a list of student activities. you can review them and decide which pages work for your student.
-
In project based learning, each student completes both the project activities and a final project. I always offer a choice of final projects to provide differentiation and give students of different skills enough options.
-
Most projects include a rubric to help you assess your students work and give your student an opportunity to assess their own work.
However, each student's project will be unique to them and be a reflection of their knowledge and skill set. There is no one 'right answer' to a project. The success of a project is largely in the process of doing the project.
