All About Me PBL Project Based Learning Activity
Project Based Learning project for kids in 1st - 5th grade.
Learning outcomes: This is a PBL project designed to integrate ELA, writing, planning, art, geometry, growth mindset. There are 12 activities which can be printed and organized into a binder or stapled together. Students can use the internet, textbooks, maps, and their peers as resources to complete the project.
Each student will complete a unique project which they can present so that others can learn from their discoveries. Colored pencils, markers, crayons are great resources for decorating each sheet! Ideal for back to school or for anytime during the year that a 'fresh start' is helpful, or a time to revisit goals. Great for homeschool and nontraditional school as well.
Motivating question: How can I enjoy learning and have the type of experience I want that will help me to grow in life?

Objective: Students can express themselves, how they see themselves, their goals, dreams, and what they want to learn while also getting back into ‘school mode’.
Student decision-making: Students choose and design their ideal learning space/s, their selfie, topics they want to learn more about, books they want to read and the things about their school or town that they feel are most important.

For example, younger kids may focus more on the design and drink recipes for the stand while older kids may also include the business plan and profit margin aspects of the project.
Depending on your student’s needs, there are several pages of scaffolding information, including vocabulary, facts, reading list, weblinks. Scaffolding can be done at any stage throughout the project as needed.

No, the projects are flexible and can be adapted to your student's grade and skill level. Each project includes a list of student activities. you can review them and decide which pages work for your student.

In project based learning, each student completes both the project activities and a final project. I always offer a choice of final projects to provide differentiation and give students of different skills enough options.

Most projects include a rubric to help you assess your students work and give your student an opportunity to assess their own work. However, each student's project will be unique to them and be a reflection of their knowledge and skill set. There is no one 'right answer' to a project. The success of a project is largely in the process of doing the project.
